Nice to meet ya!

Hi and welcome! My name is Alex Hechart and I’m so happy you’ve found your way here! As any proper introduction goes, let me tell you a little bit about myself.

My husband Santi and I (and our precious daughter Anna Cline - more on her in a minute) live in Birmingham, Alabama, where I run my interior design business. I grew up in Anniston, Alabama, and while most people can’t say they love their hometown, I’m really thankful to say I absolutely adore mine. I knew I would never be able to stay too far from home, so when I graduated from Auburn University (War Eagle!) with my marketing degree, my first order of business was moving closer to my family. Santi and I are also thrilled to be renovating our Anniston home which will allow us to spend even more time with the people we love the most.

We’ve taken quite the journey to get to where we are today! Santi and I have a story that will never cease to make me giggle. We met when I was 23, but I can’t say I didn’t know who he was for quite some time before we were officially introduced. I was home from Auburn for a weekend and went to a neighboring college’s football game. It was there I spotted Santi while he was being named Homecoming King (he’ll die when he reads this)! Thankfully, it’s not difficult to find homecoming court winners on Facebook, where I conveniently added him as a friend and liked a few of his posts (so subtle, right?). A year later, I ran into a mutual friend of ours and boldly requested that he let Santi know I wanted him to call me and take me on a date. As fate would have it, Santi actually showed up to a party I was at that very night, and the rest is history. Truly, he is the Lord’s greatest gift to me. We’ve now been married for six years, and I can’t imagine my life without him.

And while I wouldn’t change a thing about our journey, it’s had its fair share of ups and downs. After a few years of marriage, we were ready to grow our family. We faced insurmountable heartbreak with two miscarriages and the very difficult road of infertility. Eventually, we pursued IVF, and through God’s grace, we were blessed with our miracle baby Anna Cline. Becoming her mom has been the greatest gift of my life. There is really nothing like the love and joy that comes with motherhood. And if you’re walking through the battle of infertility while reading this, please know you aren’t alone.

Apart from wife and mom, I’m the proud business owner of Home with Hechart, a full-service interior design firm and online storefront based in Birmingham. And in the midst of it all, I love sharing my life, fashion finds, interior advice, highchair chats and everything in between on Instagram.

If there’s one thing the past few years (and motherhood) has taught me, it’s the importance of balance. Juggling my roles as business owner, wife and mom hasn’t always been easy, but it’s a beautiful balancing act that I’m learning to navigate with grace. Being a working mom is both incredibly rewarding and undeniably challenging, but I’m thankful for the journey - the highs, the lows and everything in between.

Whether you’re here for design inspiration, motherhood moments or just along for the ride, I’m so glad you’re here!
